			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Harley-Davidson Company or HD has been in existence for just over a hundred years. The whole thing started out with two buddies in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1903. William S. Harley signifies the H in HD. Arthur Davidson is one of three D&#8217;s. The additional two D&#8217;s being his brothers, Walter and William Davidson. William Harley and Arthur Davidson began concentrating on the prototype and in the end sought the help of Walter and William. Walter was a expert motor mechanic. William was an experienced toolmaker. Together the group formed the HD Company, which was later incorporated.</p>
<p>During 1903 HD became a grand total of 3 motorbikes. All were bought and got before completion. Gray was the normal color of the first HD motorcycles, which were often stated as the Silent Gray Fellows.</p>
<p>By the end of 1905 the HD Company was not only selling motorbikes, but in addition motorbike motors, marine motors, reversible propellers and float feed carburetors. The cost of the motorcycle was two hundred dollars.</p>
<p>The interest in the HD motorcycle grew even larger through out the next 10 years. By 1914, nine departments within the united states government of the U.s.a. used HD&#8217;s. The United States Postal service on it&#8217;s own used more than 4,800 Harley Davidson motorcycles for countryside mail shipping.</p>
<p>In 1916 the military began using HD&#8217;s in border skirmishes with Pancho Villa. The motorbikes were equipped with machine guns. HD motorbikes were also employed in The First World War with fifty percent of models produced being sent overseas. The world war also was liable for the establishment of the first Harley-Davidson Service School. The HD Company saw a need and met it.</p>
<p>The 1920&#8242;s delivered a stop to the conflict and a starting to the world of racing. HD made quite a sway. Harley-Davidson suffered, but managed to survive the Great Depression and went on to succeed through the 1930&#8242;s.</p>
<p>Unfortunately World War 2 came in the forties and HD was pressed into service once more.</p>
<p>The 1950&#8242;s brought about completely new, much more aggressive marketing plans and growth for this fantastic company. Once again war broke out, this period in Korea. Motorcycles were replaced in popularity with the armed forces with the Jeep. HD was free to focus on its private clients.</p>
<p>The sixties brought about as much change for HD as everybody else in the Usa. This was also when the company started diversify into an unrelated field of recreational product with the manufacture of 3-wheeled golf carts. Towards the end of the decade these kinds of carts cornered about one third of the U.s. market place, and were also utilized abroad. HD also started selling a wide type of motorcycle add-ons.</p>
<p>The 1970&#8242;s saw continuing success within the motorcycle racing venue. Wonderful developments were manufactured in the motorcycle racing motorcycles that were manufactured by HD. In late 1970 the company also revealed its brand new snowmobile. Perhaps the greatest switch was the merger involving HD and the AMF.</p>
<p>The 1980&#8242;s started off with a buyback, and the HD Company returned to private ownership. The company was considered to show a restored interest in building far better machines So much so that they won the deal with the California Highway Patrol in 1984, 85, 1987, 1988 and 1989.</p>
<p>The nineties were ushered in with the appearance of HD&#8217;s most customized factory custom made motorcycle thus far, the FLSTF Fat Boy. This bike was reminiscent of the past while still being up to date with the periods.</p>
<p>The 21st century has come and HD continues potent. Its current type of bikes includes the Sporster, the Dyna, the Softail, the VRSC, and a Touring line. Every collection includes a number of versions. Bikes currently sell from between $6,000 and $25,000.</p>
